In the presence of the congregation
I will sing your praises.
Hebrews 2:12
For some people, "singing your way along life’s road" may seem rather trivial, but in reality, it is a cornerstone of the Christian life. As we sing, Jesus Christ is not only our Captain, but also the Conductor of our song. (Jean Calvin’s words)
As we begin the New Year, my prayer for you—and me, is to have God use hymns to bless and consecrate each day for Him. God wants this as well, for each of us to be "set apart" or sanctified for His service each day.
Of course, no one is sanctified unless Christ sanctifies that person. As a result of His precious blood we are made clean and purified so as to be fit for His divine service.
We look forward to that day when Christ will bring us to Himself, when we will be united with His presence. It will be a day of beautiful, total unity.
But until then we must be united "spiritually" with Christ, in word, thought and deed. His cause becomes our cause; His honor our honor; if He loses we lose; if He wins, we win!
For when a person belongs to Christ, there is no distinction between that person and Christ. They are one.
Both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one…
Hebrews 2:11But, the great deceiver wants to confuse the facts. Perhaps Satan should be called the "great divider", because that is his purpose, to separate our minds, and ultimately our physical presence, from Christ.
But, Christ does share in every aspect of our life. And He cares especially about our worship. He loves us and according to Hebrews 2:11, He is not ashamed to call us His "brothers"—and He wants to encourage us by singing with us in our song of praise to God.
Does Jesus really sing? Yes, He does, literally. Think what it would have been like to hear Jesus’ voice, filled with emotion, singing before beginning that long road to Calvary. Christ sang when He was on earth and now that He "sits at the right hand of the Father", He sings with His blood-bought ones!
Are you lonely? Sing! Are you afraid? Sing! Sing, because the One whom angels worship is right beside you, leading and encouraging you in your song!
