KIDS CHOIR CAMP 2008, held in conjunction with Seventh Reformed Church was an incredible week of singing and learning the great Truths of Scripture.
Throughout the week, four vocal choirs and five instrumental choirs (recorders and hand chimes) focused on the message of Psalm 150: Praise the Lord! In addition to learning this inspiring psalm, the choirs sang of Queen Esther, Abraham and Sarah, and of Miriam, who lead the women of Israel in a great song of praise to God!
The choirs also sang anthems by JS Bach and Antonia Vivaldi, two of the greatest composers of church music.
The week would not be complete without the study of hymns, and this year was no exception, with four hymns being sung by the choirs:
Praise to the Lord
Come, Christians, Join to Sing
I Sing the Mighty Power of God
My Singing is a Prayer
The highlight of the camp was the concluding "Festival of Praise" on Friday evening. The choirs performed (from memory!) the music learned during the week. Festival of Praise program
As in past years, it was heartening to see the kids learn a great deal of music in only a week. It was a challenge, but they responded beautifully!
It was a great week--one that will be implanted in the minds and hearts of our Campers for years to come. To God be the Glory!
