Kids Choir Camp News
Special Seventh Reformed
Congregation Mini-Report
WE ARE GRATEFUL TO THE LORD FOR blessing the 10th annual KIDS CHOIR CAMP, which concluded on Friday, June 18. As in past years, the Camp was a challenging opportunity to work with children from Seventh Reformed, the neighborhood surrounding the church, and kids from across the entire Grand Rapids area.
This year, 112 kids came to the Camp with 36 different churches being represented. Wow! As always, KCC provides a great opportunity for people to learn about Seventh Reformed and this year was no exception.
As in past years, we want to thank the staff of around 45 Associates who contributed greatly to the success of the Camp. There was a tremendous spirit of cooperation. Their smiling faces and positive attitude was truly outstanding. We can honestly say, "The joy of the Lord was their strength!"
This year, the Camp focused around the verse, Hebrews 13:15 and the theme: "A Sacrifice of Praise." Using hymns, anthems and Scripture memory assignments, the kids looked at 4 great heroes from the Bible who used their music (under difficult circumstances) to give praise to God. We looked at:
We used four Scripture memory verses to aid us in our study: Exodus 15:2, Psalm 28:7, 1 Corinthians 3:11 and Acts 16:31. In addition to the memory verses, the choirs sang an anthem that highlighted the message or story from each verse.
The concluding Festival of Praise on Friday evening was again the high point of the week. As usual, all of the vocal music was memorized, which is a great tribute to each Director and their staff of musicians and associates. There were over 500 people (including the Campers) in attendance at the Festival of Praise. It was a wonderful beginning of summer for Seventh Reformed!
