The hymn tune to which we sing "Christ the Lord is Risen Today", the EASTER HYMN, was first published in Lyra Davidica, 1708, London. It is the only surviving tune from this volume, although it has been altered somewhat from the form in which it was originally published. The version we use is from John Arnold’s Compleat Psalmodist, 1741.
John Wesley called this tune SALISBURY TUNE, in his Foundry Collection, 1742, London.
