"Angels We Have Heard on High" is sung to the hymn tune GLORIA, so named by the glorious chorus line: "Gloria In Excelsis Deo." It is of unknown authorship, but the chorus is probably from a late Medieval Latin chorale. The music of the verse seems to have come from a popular tune at the time it was written. And the final arrangement was created by Edwin Shippen Barnes.
