"Jesus, Thou Joy of Loving Hearts" is sung to the hymn tune QUEBEC. This tune is also named HESPERUS. There is confusion as to the composer of QUEBEC. However, it appears to have been written by Henry Baker in 1854, while he was an undergraduate at Exeter, Oxford. It was first published in 1866, in A Hymnal for Use in the English Church, by J. Grey.
"Jesus, Thou Joy of Loving Hearts" is also sung to several other hymn tunes, including EALING, by Herbert S. Oakley, MENDON, a German tune arranged by Samuel Dyer, and SILVER HILL, composer unknown.
