William Thomas Brook was interested in hymnology, contributing hymns to many Victorian periodicals.
Though the original four verses of "O Come, All Ye Faithful" were translated by Frederick Oakeley, the four additional verses were translated by Brook in 1884. He was inspired by the three verses written by Abbe' Borderies, as well as the anonymous verse. So he translated them, inserting them after the first two verses of the Oakeley translation.
His works include Churchman's Manual of Private and Family Devotion, 1882
